What, Me Worry?!

"And why do you worry about clothes? See how the wild flowers grow. They don’t work or make clothing. But here is what I tell you. Not even Solomon in all his royal robes was dressed like one of these flowers. If that is how God dresses the wild grass, won’t he dress you even better? Your faith is so small! After all, the grass is here only today. Tomorrow it is thrown into the fire." ~ Matthew 6:28-30

After mowing the lawn today I stopped for a moment to reflect on the lilacs (pictured here) in my backyard. As I stood there and inhaled the beautiful bouquet and vibrant purple it occurred to me that these lilacs bloom every spring, with no help from me. God arranges for the nurturing and nourishment. In fact, given my lack of a "green thumb" any interference by me likely would have disastrous results.

Jesus's message here is simple. To hear. Yet, how very difficult, and how uniquely human, to be unable to take it to heart. I struggle every day to accept the truth that God supports me and will never let me fall, even during the darkest days along my Faith Walk.

Peter also encourages us to drop the burden of worry and put our faith in a loving and supportive Creator. "Turn all your worries over to him. He cares about you." ~ 1 Peter 5:7

So pause and take a moment to ponder the wonderful news that you are not alone, nor do you have cling to your worry. God loves you and wants to share your burden.
